A tutor’s purpose in a student’s education differs from the role of a teacher. Many of the brightest students find they have patches in their learning because classroom teaching can’t do a perfect job of fitting each student’s interests, learning style or pace. Equally, sometimes there are areas that are not covered in a student’s school, such as a language they would like to learn, or adequate preparation for entrance exams they will need to sit.

The role of a tutor is to listen to their student and facilitate learning one-on-one in a personal, encouraging and non-judgemental way. It is an enjoyable, rewarding and flexible profession that does not require Qualified Teacher Status, but instead benefits from those who combine broad and interesting backgrounds with a natural aptitude for teaching and listening.

Holland Park is always looking for bright and dynamic tutors. We offer some of the most competitive rates in London and promote tutors based on their experience and hours worked with the agency. We are very discerning about our selection. We review CVs and qualifications, interview, assess and induct tutors, as well as requiring an enhanced DBS check before allowing anyone to start working with a student.

We welcome applications from tutors looking to work anywhere from a couple of hours a week to full-time, however would discourage applications from anyone seeking temporary work while job-hunting as this is not appropriate for the commitment and focus most students require.

Tutoring work is primarily available in West and South West London as well as the more central North London postcodes. We also have a growing need for tutors available to travel further afield to the home counties as well as cities including Oxford, Cambridge and Brighton.

If you would like to learn more about tutoring with Holland Park, you are welcome to speak with a member of the Tuition or Recruitment teams. To apply, please fill in the online form. We look forward to receiving your application.
